88th Legislative Session Convenes

Updated: Jun 8, 2023

Swearing In Ceremony

On Tuesday, January 10th, I was sworn in to represent House District 13 surrounded by family & friends. I am honored to be your State Representative and look forward to serving the people of Bosque, Hill, McClennan, Falls, Limestone, Freestone and Leon Counties this legislative session. I will spend these next months working tirelessly for all of my constituents as a strong voice for our rural and diverse district. You can view the ceremony, and all future House sessions here.

Meet Your District 13 Staff

Our Chief of Staff is Jacob Reagan. Jacob has worked in the Legislature for eight years, and is a graduate of Baylor University. Joining us as our Legislative Director is Louis Rice. Louis served as the Deputy Data Director for Texans for Greg Abbott, and is a graduate of Texas Christian University. Our Legislative Aide is Nick Cooper. Nick worked for the Texas General Land Office and the Texas Secretary of State's office, and is a graduate of the University of Texas. We look forward to working with the communities across the district and ensuring your voice is heard in the House.

Fort Hood Legislative Tour

On Friday I had the opportunity to visit Fort Hood for the 2023 Legislative Tour. I joined my fellow legislators and staff on a tour of this amazing facility and met so many highly trained and dedicated men and women. We are so blessed to have smart, capable and willing young Americans who serve in our military. Our freedom is guarded daily by those who serve, and I have even more pride in our state and country after seeing first hand the dedication of these heroes and understanding the capabilities of our mighty military.

Inauguration Day

Last Tuesday I attended the inauguration ceremony of Governor Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick at the Texas Capitol. I had the privilege of being selected by the Speaker of the House to serve on the House Inaugural Committee, and had a front row seat to experience this historic day. The ceremony was a testament to the values we as Texans hold dear and I am honored and excited to work with these state leaders to bring about positive results for our district, as well as the great state of Texas.

First Bill Filed

Last week I filed my first bill, House Bill 1409, relating to the authority of certain counties to restrict sex offenders from child safety zones in certain portions of the unincorporated area of the county; creating a criminal offense. My hope is that this bill will better equip our local law enforcement to protect our children and rural communities.
