There’s nothing quite like being back home, walking into a local café or chatting with neighbors at legislative updates throughout the district, and hearing firsthand what’s on your mind. This past legislative session, property taxes came up everywhere I went—whether I was in Fairfield, talking with small business owners, or visiting families in Bosque County. The message was clear: Texans are tired of rising property taxes, and they want solutions that actually work.

Lowering property taxes has been a priority of mine since I first ran for State Representative. You trusted me to fight for relief, and I’m proud to bring real results back home. When I first took office in 2023, the homestead exemption for homeowners was just $40,000. In just two legislative sessions, we raised it to $140,000—more than triple the original amount. That’s real savings for your family.

We also passed landmark legislation delivering $51 billion in property tax relief—the largest in Texas history. For small business owners, I helped raise the personal property tax exemption from $2,500 to $125,000. That’s a game-changer for local mom-and-pop shops, freeing them to grow, hire, and thrive without worrying about crushing tax bills.

We’re not stopping there. Property taxes shouldn’t force families from their homes, and rising appraisals shouldn’t trap anyone in ever-increasing bills. I’m committed to reining in appraisals, making them fair, transparent, and manageable for every homeowner.

This session, Speaker Burrows’ leadership played an integral role in getting historic property tax relief passed. He worked closely with Lt. Governor Dan Patrick in an unprecedented way, prioritizing conservative policies that put Texans first. I’m honored to have worked alongside them to deliver meaningful relief to homeowners and small businesses alike.

Now it’s your turn to get involved. Early voting for the Constitutional Amendment election is already underway, running from October 20th through October 31st, with Election Day on November 4th. This fall, Texans have the opportunity to vote on important measures that directly impact property taxes and protect hard-earned money. Proposition 13 increases the school tax exemption for homeowners, while Proposition 11 expands school tax exemptions for elderly or disabled homeowners. Other measures on the ballot include Proposition 8, which bans inheritance taxes; Proposition 2, which bans a capital gains tax; and Proposition 9, which provides exemptions for inventory and business equipment.

Your vote is more than a mark on a ballot—it’s a voice for real, lasting relief for homeowners and small businesses. Take the time to learn about these propositions, make a decision, and make your voice heard. Together, we can keep property taxes in check and put more money in your pocket.

Being your representative is about showing up, listening, and delivering real results. Every conversation I have across our district reminds me why this work matters. Property tax relief isn’t just legislation; it’s families keeping more of what they earn, small businesses being able to grow, and Texans having the freedom to thrive right here at home. And I’m committed to continuing the work necessary to ensure rising appraisals don’t undermine that progress.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be updating you on more of the conservative victories we delivered in this year’s regular and special sessions.
