Conservative Angelia Orr Launches Reelection Campaign Backed by Trump, Abbott, and Ellzey

Conservative State Representative Angelia Orr announced her campaign for reelection today, securing key endorsements from President Donald J. Trump, Governor Greg Abbott, and Congressman Jake Ellzey—proven conservative leaders who trust Orr to keep delivering for Texas.

“This was the most conservative legislative session in Texas history—and I stood strong every step of the way,” said Orr. “I’m running for reelection because rural Texas needs an unapologetic conservative from our district who won’t back down—and this session I delivered the no-compromise, Texas-first action hardworking families expect and deserve.”

This session, Orr and her fellow conservative republicans passed a record number of Republican priorities, including:

  • Banning Democrat chairs from committees

  • Cutting property taxes with historic relief totaling $51 billion

  • Securing our elections from fraud

  • Defending children by keeping inappropriate materials out of classrooms

  • Securing funding for border security and supporting 287(g) immigration enforcement, lauded by President Trump

  • Strengthening bail reforms to keep dangerous criminals off the streets

  • Protecting Texans’ medical freedom by limiting government vaccine mandates

  • Expanding school choice options for families

  • Establishing a homeland security division to combat terrorism and illegal immigration

  • Protecting Texas’s power grid by improving reliability

  • Ending federal overreach

  • Fortifying existing infrastructure and protecting our grid from foreign threats

  • Creating a strategic bitcoin reserve to support Texas’s financial independence

  • Launching the DOGE Office of Texas for increased government transparency and regulatory reduction

  • Creating a new audit to ensure responsible use of taxpayer-funded resources

  • Delivering historic school funding to support rural education

  • Expanding healthcare freedom and preserving rural healthcare resources

  • Investing in critical water infrastructure projects

  • Advancing Texas as a leader in nuclear energy innovation

  • Funding Ibogaine research to support veterans

  • Stopping projects like high-speed rail that would divide and harm rural Texas

As Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services (Article II), Orr had direct oversight of one-third of the entire state budget. She used that role to elevate rural healthcare, protect the unborn, and help hurting Texans. Orr successfully blocked over $8 billion in proposed spending of tax payer dollars—shutting down liberal wish-list items pushed by urban Democrats and progressive special interests that had no place in a conservative Texas budget.

“The Left came to Austin with a wish list of DEI programs and new entitlements. I stopped them,” Orr said.

Orr also sounded the alarm on the growing disconnect between urban lawmakers and rural Texas. “The fact is, urban legislators outnumber rural ones 3 to 1,” Orr said. “But rural Texas produces the food, fuel, fiber, and water the cities depend on. They want our resources, but not our values. My job is to make them listen—and respect you.”

Orr’s commitment to her community runs deep and is built on decades of shared history and service. After heartbreaking losses of life in her district, she authored Jenifer’s Law to protect patients from misadministered IVs and joint-authored HB 2621 to preserve traffic camera footage so law enforcement can bring justice for victims like Louise Wilson. She carried multiple bills directly brought to her by constituents—like legislation to create an Army Ranger specialty license plate—and helped pass HB 3000, which provides critical rural ambulance grants that will directly impact counties like ours.

Angelia and her husband Will, both graduates of Texas A&M University, have been married for 33 years and live in Hill County, where the Orr family has farmed since 1872. Together, they’ve raised two children, run small businesses, and served faithfully at First Baptist Church Hillsboro. A former school board member, election judge, and district clerk, Orr first entered a county-wide elected position by taking out a five-term Democrat.

“I’ll never stop standing up for the people and values that make rural Texas strong,” Orr said. “Outside special interests may try to spread lies, but the people of House District 13 know the truth—and together, we’ll stand strong and keep moving forward for our community."
